... thanks to a couple of free passes from our dear friends. It was a reunion of sorts; our friends spent the last 2 blizzardy months in HI. The ship was fascinating, but Kallan remained convinced it was a pirate ship. She was intimidated by the size, open stairs/companionway ladders (a new phobia; they don't curve around like "normal" stairs), and canons. They set off a demonstration charge while we were on board , and the kids would have none of it, climbing deeper into the belly of the ship to get as far as they could from the action. I don't know what they would have done if we told them that they would be further away up in the yard arms or crows nest than at the keel. Despite her discomfort on and below deck, she managed to leave her sunglasses everywhere, so we had to backtrack through substantial portions of the ship to retrieve them. Pirates don't wear pink, heart-shaped shades.
