to the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, & Snow Network (CoCoRaHS; http://www.cocorahs.org/) a national volunteer weather monitoring organization that provides fine scale precipitation data to the National Weather Service. Data on actual precipitation events also gets reported locally to Dr. Sally Hornor who runs Operation Clearwater (http://ola4.aacc.edu/sghornor/op%20clearwater/Operation%20Clearwater%202009.htm) from her lab at Anne Arundel Community College. Operation Clearwater conducts water quality testing in local rivers looking for Enterococci bacteria, which is indicative of fecal contamination. Our dock is her only sampling location that can be directly associated with daily precipitation observations.
